2020 has no data (testing paused); the lines bridge the gap. Science is a single-grade test (grade 5, grade 8, or high school), so its county figure covers a narrower slice of students than ELA and math; high-school science is not yet published for 2026. Science scoring also changed twice — 2019 used the pre-MCAP scale, 2021 reported three bands and pooled two administrations, and the current four-band scale starts in 2022 — so science points before 2022 aren't comparable to later ones. Science also swung sharply between 2023 and 2026 — down and then back up, one grade at a time — in a pattern that appears statewide at nearly the same size each year, so those moves likely reflect the state assessment rather than local change. The 2019 math point likewise reflects the larger PARCC-era Algebra 1 testing population (~18,700 district test-takers vs ~13,000 since).
